WESTMINSTER - A rooftop with a view

A beautiful rooftop space with panoramic views over Westminster Abbey. As soon as I walked in this bare space i sow the potential to create a unique and inviting terrace, filled with shrubs and perennials to bring a calm oasis in the middle of the city. The client wanted to enhance the view towards the Abbey and equally have some privacy from the neighbouring building. A bespoke decking and metal planters were the must go choice for a durable terrace, with the addition of few ceramic planters to break the sharp edges of the metal containers. The planting design was carefully chosen to thrive in this windy and expose terrace and a mix of both evergreen and deciduous shrubs and small trees create the bulk of the planting scheme. The small leaves of Lonicera nitida created the perfect pest-free alternative to a Boxus sp. hedge, ideal to frame the view of Westminster Abbey, while all around an explosion of leaf shapes and branches created an orderly caos of colours, shapes and textures to bring the mind away from the busy city life.
